The bracelet was made by an artist who had a stall at a creative market in Dubai that I visited two years ago. Now it seems like a different world to me. In Dubai, I was still in the middle of my corporate job, but already had a strong desire for freedom and a self-determined life. Three months after buying the bracelet, I quit my corporate job, and I actually took a one-way ticket to Costa Rica. The plan: clear my head, surf, meet lots of new people, learn Spanish, and enjoy life. I learned surfing and Spanish during that time. The most important lesson, though, was to build self-confidence and make a change in my life: making the leap from employee to self-employment. That sounds so simple. As simple as the pearl bracelet looks that I bought in Dubai back then. And yet it contains so much emotion, struggle, history, and experience.
That's why I still wear the bracelet today. To remind myself every day: You can achieve and do anything in your life if you just want to.
