I find it very important to trust people, to be able to change and develop. One of my hobbies has therefore become founding Montessori schools, or rather, helping my wife do this. A few years ago, my wife was involved in a start-up project with two colleagues that ultimately failed. We got the impression that one of the colleagues lacked the openness and entrepreneurial spirit to drive a start-up project forward. She is undoubtedly a first-class teacher, but you have to establish the school first, and then she can do good work there.
Now, a few years later, my wife and I have started to establish a school on our own again, and my wife asked this colleague if she would like to teach at the school with her. She was on board again, and even now, in the founding phase, it's clear what a fantastic, thoughtful, active, and hands-on founding partner she is. It's a good thing that my wife and I didn't fall prey to our own prejudices from back then, but instead gave her another chance to showcase her development.
