My father moved to Malaysia with me and my family in 2014. Beforehand, we researched Malaysian culture online. Malaysia is a Muslim country. Many different cultures live together in this country. We were all very excited and curious to see what would await us. On our first holiday in Malaysia, we went to the island of Langkawi. On the first evening, we went to a restaurant for dinner. At the next table, there were a lot of expensive people sitting there, and the women wore headscarves: obviously, there was something to celebrate. After a while, a young girl came up to us and asked if we would like a piece of cake; it was her uncle's birthday. We were delighted by the invitation. We were curious and were given a friendly welcome by the guests.
The making is called Reen. We met with Reen several times during my time in Malaysia, and Reen showed us her country. She went horseback riding with us and showed us her home. We always had a wonderful time with Reen. Since we moved back to Germany, we have been friends despite the great distance. As a farewell gift, she gave me a Malaysian doll as a souvenir, which I have in my room at home. I am happy to have had this experience. Friendship is independent of where you come from or what culture you belong to.
