I'm open about my cancer diagnosis, which not everyone likes. A good friend said that something like that should be kept secret and to oneself, and that's what she did. I said that's her opinion, and I respect her keeping it to herself. I, on the other hand, am in favor of openness, even with my children, even though the youngest was only 8 years old the first time I was diagnosed. Being open allows me to have a bad day, and everyone knows what's going on.
