I've been living in Augsburg with my wife and three children for several years. When the coronavirus crisis suddenly emerged, we were terrified of being infected. Schools were closed: our older daughter was homeschooling, while our younger daughter had to pick up her homework at her school. Our youngest wanted to go to the playground, and the girls were annoyed because they weren't allowed to meet up with their friends—it was a difficult time for our family, too.
At the beginning of 2020, I opened a tailoring workshop, but it was closed for six weeks starting in mid-March. During this time, I wanted to do something meaningful and supported a project from the "Café Tür an Tür" (Café Door to Door) – we sewed over 300 simple masks and distributed them in shared accommodations.
When my shop was allowed to reopen, I continued sewing and was also able to sell masks.
Now our lives are a little more relaxed again.
