This image means almost as much to me as the shoes themselves. The Dr. Martens shoe brand has been around since 1960, and from the very beginning, they have relied on authenticity and practicality. On a stylistic level, the simple silhouette of Dr. Martens allows its wearers to embrace the boots as part of their own individual, and very distinctive style. Finding and having a personal identity is something I'm more interested in than ever. In the last year and a half alone, I've discovered a lot about myself and how I view the world around me. I've had this pair of shoes for three years and have grown into them well, both physically and metaphorically. These chunky boots are stylistically striking and make me feel empowered every time I wear them because I've made them my own. Aside from being my favorite pair of shoes, I've created some wonderful memories in them. Thanks to their durability, I'll be able to walk, run, and dance as my most authentic self throughout the rest of my journey to self-discovery.
