Table fellowship

Tischgemeinschaft

Limitless possibilities seem—paradoxically—to place limits on openness. Standing on the bus is okay—the seats are usually already taken. Even in a restaurant, the impulse is more likely to be to head for the door than to ask if you can sit down. It's different at the Dickstein Festival—there, seats are so scarce that you (I certainly did) take any available seat. And looking back, this random table fellowship is always my highlight. The memories of the conversations usually last longer than those of the music or the food. That should really always be the goal of going out. That's why I'm already looking forward to the festival again.
