Trojan horse

Trojanisches Pferd

It was a long time ago: 1987. As a history student, I went with my
Course an excursion to Türkiye. We visited, among other things, the excavation site
the legendary city of Troy. A large wooden Trojan horse
marked the entrance to the site. This came in all sorts of designs
as a souvenir. I bought a small matchstick
Horse as a souvenir of the study trip. When I hold it in my hand today,
then I think less about the trip than about the professor who organized the excursion
and for whom ancient historical research was the focus of his
working life, especially the reception of Troy.
First, I had attended his lectures on ancient Greek research from
purely as a matter of duty. What surprised me was that his lectures,
The seminars and the trips were incredibly exciting.
In an unobtrusive way, he liked to share his enthusiasm for ancient history.
His way of thinking and arguing, his comprehensive education and
His commitment to students had a big influence on me.
I remember this dedicated university professor with great respect.
