My sister and I came up with the city's alchemy. Sure, we couldn't imagine what the name meant. So we sat there and wanted to write a story. We talked a lot about our memories, and I quickly realized that each of the terms—respect, self-realization, and openness—is very subjective. Eventually, she found a memory and wrote her story, but as so often happens when you're thinking about something specific, nothing came to mind. I looked around, blocked out the noise of conversation, and saw so many happy people at the Hanseatic Culture Festival. And then it hit me: we may not see each other often in Lübeck; everyone has their daily routine, but we celebrate ourselves, our history, and our city whenever we can. Lübeck literally IS the representation of respect, self-realization, and openness. These are usually invisible, but there's always a way to make talents visible here. We may be an old city, but we remain new, although, no, we remain Lübeck!
