Lübeck was my home for 2.5 years. Born in Berlin, I came to Lübeck at the age of 6. My father had found a job here as an engineer. So, I started school in Lübeck. I have three strong memories: the red bricks/clinker bricks everywhere. The thorny bushes that replaced the fence in the apartment complex, and my teacher. She had a leg that was too short and a deformed foot that was stuck in a giant black shoe. This teacher took us on a hike, and a good 50 years ago, that actually meant walking, walking far. On this hike, she took the courage out of all of us. She ran ahead of us, comforting us and encouraging us that we could still make it. After that, I loved her very much. Unfortunately, I've forgotten the name of the elementary school and her name. But I've never forgotten her courage and her love for her students. On June 9, 2022, I came to Lübeck to "find" her.
