Four weeks before the due date and shortly before the coronavirus really hit Europe, our first child was born. The three of us have been at home for about three weeks now and are really enjoying this intense time. It is important to us to give our child plenty of warmth, closeness, and security in their first weeks and months in this world, and to make their arrival with us as comfortable as possible. The thick socks that all three of us wear symbolize this wish very well. Time and again, we realize that our everyday life would hardly be any different even without virus-containment measures and exit restrictions. Only the lack of visits from family and friends makes a significant difference. As parents, we will probably remember this time very vividly and intensely: While we are able to enjoy the security of our new family happiness inside, a virus is being fought outside and everyday life is being shut down. Hopefully, everyone, both inside and out, has thick socks to give them warmth, security, and security.
