Getting to know each other: A game with your city and new encounters
The desire to meet new people, and maybe that special someone , is universal. Yet, the paths to getting there often feel overly intellectual, exhausting, or superficial. We believe that getting to know people doesn't have to be limited to a small screen or a noisy room. Imagine transforming your entire city, your neighborhood, and your everyday commutes into a playground for real, serendipitous encounters. It's about finding adventure in the everyday and thus creating new connections in a playful way.
From small talk to real connection
Making friends, especially in a new city, can be a challenge. Many of us long to move beyond small talk and finally have a deeper conversation. We want to open up, feel close, and get to know someone better . But often we lack that decisive push, the moment that turns a fleeting acquaintance into something more. Many people are searching, but it often only takes one person to take the first step to create positive momentum. The inspiring talk "How to start a movement" impressively demonstrates how a small action can trigger an entire movement.
It's about consciously increasing the likelihood of these magical moments. Marketplaces used to fulfill this function. Today, it's our responsibility to revitalize these spaces for serendipity, encounters, and less alienation. Our partner, The Art of Embodying Change (TAEC) , also pursues this approach of fostering a culture of encounter through value-based frameworks in its work with organizations seeking to improve their collaboration.
Microadventures as your tool for getting to know
We invite you to view getting to know someone as a values-driven adventure. It's not about pretending, but about revealing more of yourself through small, conscious actions and actively exploring your surroundings. Leave the passive role and provoke the encounters you desire. You'll be surprised how many people are grateful for such a stimulus.
An invitation to play
How can you make this first step easier? Our Action Cards are designed precisely for that. They're not a dating tool, but rather a set of 35 micro-adventures and prompts that encourage you to interact with your surroundings and start conversations with others in a playful way. They're the perfect icebreaker for a memorable personal encounter .
Create community, find friendship
As a nonprofit organization, our mission is to create real spaces and opportunities for interpersonal encounters. We're proud to see new friendships emerge through our projects. Every single encounter contributes to more community and less anonymity. So the next time you think, "I'd like to get to know you ," whether it's a neighbor, a colleague, or a new acquaintance, remember: A small adventure can be the beginning of something big.
