A city project for Heilbronn – and for a livable future with data and sustainability
Design begins with understanding – and with participation. A new idea of a city is currently emerging in Heilbronn: open, learning, and future-proof. A city that is not only smart, but also sustainable, social, and communal. This requires more than technology – it requires people who get involved.
Learn how to change invites us to discover new tools and reflect on how we as a society want to handle data. It's about transparency, participation—and strengthening the sense of self-efficacy. Because only when we understand can we bring about change.

A space for data that feels like a space for people
We can't hear or see data, smell or taste it. And yet it's everywhere – in air quality, traffic flow, and energy consumption. With Learn How to Change, we're creating a sensory, interactive space where you can discover the world of data in new ways.
In the exhibition, you'll learn how sensors work, what data Heilbronn collects, and how this information helps make smarter, more sustainable decisions.
At the same time, it becomes clear that sustainability is not a state – but a process in which we are all involved.
"Here, you really feel that sustainability isn't abstract—it's something that affects us all. With all our senses."
“Learn how to Change shows how social change begins: through understanding, participation, and new perspectives on data.”
A space where sustainability is not only visible but also tangible.
In a world that is changing rapidly, we need new tools – but also new attitudes. A space that shows us: change is possible – if we learn to look closely.
LEARN HOW TO CHANGE is part of Heilbronn's commitment as a knowledge city and as part of its bid to become a European Green Capital . The exhibition was developed in collaboration with local partners from the city administration, academia, the arts, and civil society.
It shows that a sustainable city needs transparency, participation and a new understanding of data – beyond technology, closer to people.
