My name is Christian, I'm a student and I ask myself every day where my path leads. I'm driven by the desire to contribute to the success of our democratic society within my means; my faith helps me in this.
A value that guides me in life...
Sincerity,
...because it serves as a guideline for my own actions. It also supports me in reflecting on what I can reasonably expect of myself and others. In particular, it helps me understand how I treat other people: being honest is fair to the other person, even if it isn't always easy; likewise, I expect honesty from myself, even if that isn't always easy to bear.
A value that constantly challenges me...
Fraternity/Sisterhood
For me, this is an indispensable principle in a free and liberal democracy that values being a social welfare state. Only if I treat my fellow human beings in the spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood can our coexistence succeed. However, I find certain aspects of my fellow human beings difficult to bear on a daily basis. This is my great challenge: not to lose sight of what is essential.
A value that our society should embrace more...
Charity.
That we can always meet each other as equals and learn that each and every one of us plays an irreplaceable role. That every human being is endowed with an inalienable core of dignity, which is worth recognizing and loving. Regardless of any barriers or political or social divisions – every person counts. Recognizing one another in this spirit would benefit our entire society.
