Value is something we should carry within us, but it's also important to remember how quickly it can be lost or taken away. I wanted to create a metaphor for love. As something I value, I understand everything else that comes with loving another. Friendship, loyalty, tolerance, etc., all play a role in love. While love can be very strong and resilient in some ways, I observed its delicacy and fragility and how easily it can be destroyed. That was my goal, to capture the delicate balance that is love. I wanted to represent the hard and soft, light and dark, simple and difficult aspects of love. Once that authenticity or trust is broken, it can never be the same as it was in the beginning. I wanted to show that with the flower; once burned, it can never return to the beautiful rose it once was.
