I'm so excited! I can finally visit Micha in New York. After my final exam at university, I'm off on a trip. First stop: 10 days in New York!
I quickly realize that my travel budget won't get me very far. My high is further dampened when I realize that my credit card limit has been reached two days before departure. What the heck! No money... What now?
Luckily, my old bike courier colleague Micha has a fixed-gear bike lying around. From Brooklyn, I set off for Manhattan. The sun is shining, and my mood slowly brightens. I glide silently over the asphalt, feeling as if I'm merging more and more with the road. Faster than anyone else, I navigate my way through the everyday chaos of a city whose blocks seem to me like a chessboard full of bustling towers. My bad mood is gone.
While this isn't the bike from New York, it's a relic from my Erasmus stay in the South of France. It represents countless moments in which the beauty of the world was revealed and reminds me that there are always ways to fill your day with joy.
