Over the past few days, I've established a morning ritual: I stand on the balcony of my new apartment, drink a delicious coffee, greet the first rays of sunshine, and gaze at a very old, powerful, and massive beech tree. The beech is a tree that was displaced from Central Europe during the last ice age. Nevertheless, it survived in the Mediterranean region and began its reconquest of its European range about 10,000 years ago. Therefore, the beech tree is often associated with strength, power, and vitality. I, too, can draw strength, power, and vitality for the day ahead from the moment of calm described above.
