On December 24, 1976, at Frankfurt Airport. Park Jung Mee from Seoul landed. We welcomed the 13-month-old child and cared for him as best we could after the flight. A bottle of warm therapeutic food and a stuffed animal quickly made the ordeal forgotten. This stuffed animal, a "terry cloth dog," became his best friend and had to join in with all the nonsense for years. Every now and then, it was time for him to go into the washing machine. In kindergarten and at the beginning of elementary school, the dog was always with him. Suddenly, the dog was over. He withdrew and hid in a drawer for a few years. But then the grandchildren (Magnus, Linus, and Smilla Lotta) came along, and the dog was the hero of the drawer. This picture, "Kim with Dog," was painted based on a photo of Aunt Levia in America. Grandpa Berthold picked it up at Frankfurt Airport for 400 DM in customs fees. Now it hangs in our basement. "What a pity!" Kim is our daughter from South Korea, whom we adopted and picked up at the airport in Frankfurt on December 24, 1976 (1 year old).
