There are two of this compass/sundial. I had them made after hearing a song whose content I wanted to reflect by giving this sundial to the artist. The lyrics of the song are about someone who, despite trying to find their way in the world and make sense of the circumstances of this reality, finds a bleak world from which they cannot escape. That's my rough summary of the song's synopsis. Some phrases from this song are: "I always see the same things but try to assess them differently, I remain hurt but already know that no enemies are actually real..." "My promise to myself is my law, and I am accuser, defendant, and judge all in one." “I see the sun as my home, as if I were reaching for it... unfortunately, I'm staying here...” “My songs are always the same, just the pain of a being that never reaches the sun. I've walked the path, thought maybe it would come with time, but from the point where I stand, the compass turns in circles.” For me, the lyrics clearly express how a person feels when they become aware of the loss of value in their reality. When I read a statement somewhere in which he had expressed that he couldn't do anything with symbols, my idea was born to give him a symbol that he could relate to himself if he wanted to. It's a sundial, because for me the sun/the light is the source. So the compass roughly stood for “...if you lose yourself in the bleak, rational outside world, change direction and go into your inner world. There, in the eternity of the moment, you will find new values and your own authenticity.
