During my studies, one of my friends went to Manchester for a semester abroad. There was no way we (me and another friend) would miss the chance to visit him. I organized the whole thing; nothing could stop us. On the day of departure, there was so much anticipation. We drove to the airport in Cologne way too early to make sure we didn't miss our flight—just in case...
...when we tried to check in, our names were missing and there was no flight from Cologne to Manchester that day – and we hadn't printed our boarding passes. After a long phone call with the airline, it became clear: Wrong airport, SHIT!!!!!! The flight was departing from Düsseldorf. Since my dad had driven us to the airport, we quickly jumped in the car and tried everything to get to Düsseldorf: We missed our flight – everyone was so disappointed, and unfortunately, it was my fault (although no one said anything).
A while later, the semester abroad was over—but the regret was still there. Because it was my fault, I wanted to surprise my two friends with a small gesture. I chose three identical, very simple bracelets—a simple form of design that we could all carry with us.
We wore these bracelets for years. We only took them off because they broke and fell off. For me, it still represents the three of us and the memory of this story. This bracelet was my first thought when I thought of a personal item that represents friendship.
