All of these paintings represent friendship and the joy of life to me. They are paintings on electrical boxes in my hometown of Grand Rapids, MI. One of my favorite things to do is show non-locals beautiful downtown Grand Rapids, and when I brought some of my friends from Kalamazoo to GR, we came across these new paintings. There is so much art in downtown GR, with installations, sculptures, and murals left over from the Art Prize. These paintings are part of a Black History Month walking tour organized by Caroline Cook. There is a station for each letter of the alphabet and a famous historical figure with a background of color whose name begins with that letter. It was so fun to walk with my friends through the city I love, turn the corner, and find another one. I was so proud of GR for doing something like this. Since Breonna Taylor is from Grand Rapids, some people in the city are trying to rename a major downtown street in her honor. I really enjoy showing people Grand Rapids.
