This is the miracle machine we built to appear on the Shell stage as scientists. The promise: we'd prove we'd invented something you could plug into your car that would clean the air instead of polluting it. The principle combined "carbon capture storage" technology and the "blue economy" and claimed to store CO2 and later use it for beverage production. Shell believed us, and so I was able to try out this machine live on stage. It didn't use CCS technology, which was completely ridiculous anyway, but rather a pump that sprayed the entire stage with fake oil.
This moment was exciting and personally important to me because I was able to witness how a simple action could expose an oil giant's greenwashing strategy. For years afterward, journalists referred to this action when reporting on Shell.
