I repeatedly meet people who are completely different from me. They think differently, talk differently, act differently than I would, or simply look completely different. For me, openness is about approaching these people with open eyes, without immediately pigeonholing them. However, the freedom to be who one is finds its limits in my values when these people's behavior restricts my freedom or that of others. In any case, openness means engaging with others and making an effort to get to know and understand them.
